What we're trying to do at Amarillo College is meet the market. There's quite a high market demand for a lot of the skills that we're teaching for the students. We have Business Administration, we have Business Management, we have Business Technology.
So for example, in Business Technology, big demand for someone to come in, and say, "I can help you with your specific things you need."
Databases, office administration tasks, cloud computing, we cover all those things. We need somebody working in marketing, we need someone working in advertising, in sales, we cover all those things too-- customer relationships, you name it.
Business Admin is a great track. For those that want to transfer to a four-year university, you get to basically get your core 40, all taken care of, and you get to do it at a third of the rate of major universities.
Business Management is more for those that want to get out and get into the workforce as quickly as possible. We teach you those soft skills that employers are looking for. And we know that employers are looking for them because we actually do an industry survey with them and check to see, "What are you seeing in the workforce? What are you missing? And how can we make it better?"
So we have a unique certificate program where after just five classes, you'll actually end up with a Certificate of Completion-- a level one certificate, level two, level three, and then your Associate. That gives you that piece of paper to show your current employer or future employers that you're serious about your career, that you're working to improve yourself, and you are committed to not only lifelong learning, but improving the company that you currently work for.
