I would highly recommend getting involved at Amarillo College just because it looks great when you're transferring. Personally, you gain a lot of leadership experience. You learn how to communicate with others. You kind of get outside of your comfort zone and like people are there supporting you trying to route you to become a better version of yourself.
At Amarillo College, we have over 40 different clubs and organizations and they are spread across the board. We have some that are major-specific. So maybe you're a nursing major. We have clubs that are specific for those programs.
And others are just based on your interest. Do you want to put together the big events on campus? Do you wanna be part of an honor society and work on your academics? There's a place for you here in any one of our organizations.
To get involved on campus, you need to go to the Club Fair and it's held early in the fall semester, and you just go from table to table. If you happen to miss that event, no problem, just head to Student Life, and the ladies there will give you some information and tell you anything you need to know.
Presidential Scholars is the coolest group on campus. Okay, maybe I'm biased, but it is a very rich experience for the top honors students. We do all kinds of leadership events. We do a lot of public speaking. We support each other in our academics.
The students have an opportunity to go overseas. And we've been to places like Peru and Japan in the past. And this next year, we're going to Poland, and we spend our time learning the culture and just experiencing the richness of the country. And sometimes we even do service-learning to give back a little bit.
